Hi all I am new to this site and in need of some info on the year and model # of my 70hp evinrude outboard. The only numbers that I can find are located on top of the block - DI - 389235. The stamp is sanded down to nothind on the lower engine so that wouldnt help either...The person who I brought it from said it was a 1991 but it is starting to look a little long in the tooth..
Any help would be great !!!

Thanks
Tom

You need to find the silver welch or freeze plug on the block ... should look something like this:

If it's a 1991 model motor ... the model # should be something like E70ELEIE (electric start) or E70TLEIE (trim & tilt - electric start). The EI is the year ... 1991.

Thanks for answering!! It doesnt have a silver cap on the freeze plug.To the right of it (that resembles a freeze plug) is where I found those numbers?

If the plate on the transom bracket is worn down, and you can't locate a model number on the freeze plug, your best bet in determining the model is to take several pictures and post them.
