Just aquired a couple motors and a boat. In good enough shape to try and get going, so here's the question. Need any info or advise on this motor, model# 70EL76D Ser#J4532827. The other is an Evinrude of the same hp I think, but couldn't find any numbers so it will more likley be a parts motor. I will post some pics if it will help, just wanting to get it going and learn all I can, ie: fuel mix, rpm range, stuff like that. Thanks a bunch for any info!

Re: 70hp Johnson

welcome to iboats!
1976 Johnson 70,
50:1 87 octane gasoline to tcw3 certified oil (one cup every 3 gallons),
Champion QL77JC4 at .030,
Highly recommend original factory service manual available at marineengine.com or kencook.com,
Parts catalogue/engine schematics online at www.shop.evinrude.com

If you don't know how old the water pump impeller is, or if its more than a couple-three years, this is a good time to change it.
