70Hp Merc Year

Hi I am trying to find the year for my 70hp merc but for some reason comming up Dry. The only number I can seem to pull off of it is a serial number: 4979482. If someone can point me as to where I might find the year it would be gratley apprecated.<br /><br />Thanks<br />Mike.N

May I ask where you found that information....I found a page but it did not have my SIN number and I was told that it was Mid 80's when I bought it....
