70HP VRO Evinrude...OK to troll with it?

I have a 70HP Rude with VRO. At slow idle it cruises along nicely at about 4MPH which is a nice troll speed. However, I don't want to ruin the engine by doing this and I'm curious if there are any ill effects on using a big motor like this at slow speeds for extended periods of time?

Doubt it. Have trolled many, many hours with my 70HP rude and no ill effects to date. They do troll well.....

Thanks!

On a semi-related topic...

I'm new to trolling and while I've found a couple good trolling rigs (I'm in MN so will be trolling for Pike and Walleye) and some good rod holders....

I'm curious if you guys ever troll just throwing the line out and not using planar boards or any other equipment? Just toss out the line and go?

I would assume braided or some other tough line and maybe some swivel's or something to keep the line from getting twisted up?

Any good trolling resources you have would be appreciated. d:)

Thanks for the info...

Do you use the trolling rigs that show how much line you have out or do you just use your baitcaster or spinning rigs? How do you know how deep your lures/bait are?
