There is a free boat available in my buddies town. It is an older (I would guess early to mid 1970's) 16ft Crestliner, fiberglass body with open bow. For the most part it is in decent shape and just needs some cosmetic work. However, it has a good sized hole in the transom. Its probably 4inches high by 6 inches wide. I'm fairly confident the wood is rotted.

Is this a giant undertaking? He is considering taking the boat for a project. I've never had to replace the transom on my aluminum boat, and know even less about fiberglass.

Any thoughts?
