Just put new plugs and wires on. I had it running on the boat dock for 10 min and when it died. No Chug a lug, just dead. When I got it back. I noticed no spark.

Plug wires ohm out just fine.

Bad Coil?? I put a ohm meter across the input of the coil and it read 0 ohms? Is this right?

When I put the push the plug wire from the distributor to the coil. The coil end seems loose and does not fit snug.

I also noticed that the wires from the distributor assembly going to the switch box are old and crappy. Looks like the wires going in the distributor are hard wired into a sensor of some sort.

Where do I find parts for this hog.

Thanks

OK - First check. Make sure you have +12VDC on the red wire on the switchbox. It needs to bge hot all the time. The white wire next to it is +12VDC from the ign key. Make sure it is only hot with the ign on. Disconnect the mercury switch sensor. It should be attached to the black wire from the distributor to the switchbox.

There is a troubleshooting test for this battery driven CDI test on the CDI Electonics website.

I checked the red wire on the switch box and I do have +12VDC. Its hot all the time. I got nothing on the white wire even with the ing key on. I did remove the mercury switch sensor. (what the heck does that do)

Before I went anyfurther I wanted to check the compression. I took 3 readings per cyl. all were right around 110 give or take +-10 nothing that stands out. So that looks good.

I did check out CDI Electronics web sight, I have to go back and spend more time on it.

You need to find out why there is no power on the white wire on the switchbox. No power=no spark.

ok this is what i found. I took the key switch apart, it was all corroded, so I cleaned it all up and BAM there was voltage on the white wire. I now have spark on every cyl. I just have to put my muffs on and start it up.

thanks for the post. This forum rocks!
