Inherited a siezed 71 7.5 HP merc with bad primary ign wires and stripped #2 plug threads. Appears water enterd cyl's. Was able to un-sieze over time by removing side cover soaking rings with aerokroil and rocking flywheel. Pulls through smooth but #2 cyl compression is noticably lower than #1 by feel, though #1 cyl piston seems to but scuffed while #2 isn't.
1. Is it feasible to rewire the ignition and helicoil the plug hole, and in hope of stuck rings, run with extra rich oil for a while and hope they release and seat again, OR
2. Feasible to disassemble, inspect, repair & reuse what components I can as long as no special tools are required (i.e. to seperate the cyl blk and crank case, etc.) and re-ring if required.
Any and all suggestions are much appreciated, Regards
