After I replaced the water pump impeller,I put the lower unit back in place, refilled the gear case with new oil.I started the engine but noticed the prop spun very fast clockwise (much faster then it does when on neutral) could broke my fingers if tried to stop hold it. Prop kept spinning the same speed and rotation even when I changed it to forward and reverse! with no clunk while switching between gears.
Note:while i was filling the lower unit with gear case oil, some gurgling sound came out of there,is that normal? or there should be no bubbling sound while filling the gear case oil? it filled with about one pint of oil or so.
Then I tested the shift cables terminals there was no power. Has the solenoid in the lower unit been damaged and how come since I didn't touch it during the repair?! or is something else? any reply would be very helpful,THANK YOU!

I used West Marine type C oil recommanded for electric shift engine .
The engine was running perfectly before the maintenance in my drive way with muffs and in the water,I dodn't know what caused the prop to spin fast now on all gears, clockwise.

Well, that is Hydro-Eelctric shift. It defaults to forward gear if something is wrong. Obviously, there is something wrong and it is defaulted. You need ot go through the Hydro-Electric troubleshooting routine. That begins with checking the voltage at the blue and green wires going down to the lower unit. Um.m.m, you DID reconnect the wires...didn't you?

did you fill it from the top or from the bottom?

Filling from the top, you run the risk of having air trapped in there, making you think it's full when maybe it's not.

Pumping or squeezing it in from the bottom, you don't usually get the bubbly sound...I can't say that it can't happen though.

I filled it from the bottom hole until the oil spilled from the top hole, then plugged the top hole, removed the pumping hose from the bottom hole and plugged it as well. This is the second time in one year I'm filling the oil in the gear case, the first time didn't bubble at all.

Guys,I went through all the hydro-Electric troubleshouting routine and found that the solenoid weires (the greed and blue) were broken inside the sleeve! I soldered them together and shrink rapped them with tubes, tomorrow I will connect the lower unit to the engine and check how it goes.Thank to all of you for your replies and suggestions, best luck fishing and boating !
