I cant seem to keep the motor running when I dissengage the choke. It seems I have to keep the rpms slightly over 1k to not bog down when I shift into gear. I have played with both the rich/lean on the rochester carb as well as made adjustments to the needle valves (there are 2). I am not sure what the Idle rpms should be but 1k seems a little high.

Thanks
Casey

No I have not checked the fuel filter other than visually. As I just purchased the boat recently I noticed that it looks new and it definately has been replaced. It looks like the same filter I see in the walmart boating section. It looks clean and the boat starts right up and runs well other than what I have mentioned.

I was thinking about taking the needles out and checking to see if they are bent. I guess if they can be if tightened against the throttle plate.

Thank you for the reply. I will check the fuel filter again

Also I think I read somewhere that I should not clean a fuel filter just replace. If you have any thoughts on how to clean it I am all ears.

Another thing check the timing. Then the compression.Plugs burning OK?
Replace any filter.Cleaning doesn't really work.
Profile??You might be close to someone who can help.
Setting the air screws should be done with new plugs.Works better that way.J

Do that too long and you'll be looking for a new drive. I know zip about carbs but I replaced mine with a reman and it wouldn't idle lower than 1K. Turned out it was the idle circuit in the carb.
