71 Johnson 75hp help

trying to help my buddy get his boat going. He bought a 71 Johnson 75hp outboard and we watched it run before he bought it. Rans great! Got it home, hooked it up, it fires then instantly dies. Fires them dies. Every single time it will fire without hesitation, then dies instantly. Anyone have any ideas? What would have changed? Good new fuel... we are at a loss. Any help would be appreciated.

Try pumping the primer bulb.

Outline your cold start procedure.----What position is choke set at , on , automatic or off ?-----Are you advancing throttle, little red lever for cold start ?

Choke on, and tried it with advanced throttle and without. Always does the same thing.
