I've had this 50horse for about 9 months now. It has ALWAYS ran well, 5300 WOT, idles perfectly, starts easy. About 4 months ago I put a half can of Sea Foam in the 6 gallon tank on back to back tanks and only noticed very slight improvment in the performance so I just assumed the motor was in good shape.

Last week I put another half can of Seaform through it for maintenence. This week there was a significant difference in the way my motor ran. The WOT RPMs went from 53K to 55K. The speedometer went from 30mph up to 32 or 33 mph.

The water was quite smooth (not glassy but far from normal choppy) this weekend. Probably smoother than it's been in the 9months I've ran the motor. So possibly because of the smooth water the noise level of my boat was greatly lessened. It even sounded like the motor was more quiet. It sounded quieter at 5500 than it ever has at 5300.

Could the speed and RPM change I experienced be due to smoother water (This is Beaver Lake in NW Arkansas)? I've haven't experience this kind of change from smoother water on my previous boats but they were more in the 15 to 20 mph range and I didn't have a tach on them.
