Hi there guys, how difficult is it to remove the powerhead from a old seahorse? I've recently picked a 1971 20hp up and it has a loose bottom tray / lower engine cover. I'm guessing that the rubber mounts are all corroded or something?!
Is removing the powerhead a simple matter of getting the carb / starter / fuel pump out of the way, unbolting top and bottom, then lifting away?
I've bought the seloc manual and it does not mention removing the powerhead at all!!
Thanks for all your help.

Easier than that. You don't have to take all that stuff off. Just the shifter interlock from the starboard side, the vertical throttle shaft from the port side, fuel hose, disconnect any wires.

Then unbolt it (from the bottom) and lift it off. One of the bolts is almost hidden (the front one), but you can get to it. Sometimes it is phillips head, sometimes hex.

The lower cover is mounted on rubber mounts, and they are notorious for breaking. Also, the bracket that holds the front ones is often broken too.

Thanks for the reply,

You mentioned that the bracket holding the lower tray often breaks - that is exactly what happened to mine. Is the bracket easy to obtain a replacement for or do i need to weld something up??

Thanks Again
