Good evening iboats! I inquired about this subject the other evening, erickems said it's not too tough but, the Seloc manual i have makes it sound quite challenging, especially in the upper pump housing...removal of seal and insert...Seloc goes on to talk about camshaft types and shims and so-forth etc..etc. actually making this sound more like defusing a bomb. and what about seals between the lower unit and the center section? Is there seals between the two cases, shaft seals etc. and if so are they included in the pump kit? what will i miss along the way, that worries me!

Monk, There are no seals between the LU and the midsection. Specifically(in order from the bottom), you will replace the water pump base gasket and o-ring and install the pump base. Now replace the gasket on each side of the stainless steel baseplate, and install it., Now install the impeller (don't forget the driveshaft key), and lubricate it with vasoline or oil. Now install the pump cover with the SS insert, while turning the driveshaft CW. Now install nuts and screw, as well as the rubber slinger (large donut-shaped washer), and if you motor has a, oring on the top of the driveshaft, replace it. Your pump kit will have gaskets for the gearcase fill an vent, and several left over gaskets and orings

chris, once i remove the fastening hardware, is this l/u going to drop right down? also eric metioned about not moving the shifter shaft/mechanism as it will mess up the shifting!! is this part easy to get out of original position or would you have to purposely or knowingly move it. could it be accidently moved out of position?
