Moter will rev fine and very responsive while in nuetral but when in gear it bogs down and will barely make a wake. It was running perfectly until this happened. It is an electric push button shift. There is a spring loose on the throttle linkage that came off but I am reasonably sure I got it back in the right place. Is there something I'm Overlooking?

Howdy Cowboy.

You have probably been seduced by a 2 stroke's ability to sound great on one cylinder with no load.

Find out which one, if either, is dead by disabling each spark plug. If the engine dies, that is a good cylinder. If there is no difference, that cylinder is making no power.

Check if both spark plug wires will make at least a 1/2" arc to the block.

If you have spark to both and both are making power at idle, try squirting fuel into each carb while trying to accellerate. If it picks up on one carb, overhaul that carb.

If both cylinders behave the same, trace your fuel system from the tank cap to the fuel pump, looking for air leaks or restriction. Finally, pull the output line from the fuel pump and see if it will squirt a strong pulse into a plastic bottle. Weak output from the fuel pump? Overhaul it.

Good luck and let us know what you find. :)

OK JB (or anyone else), Have tested cylinders and lower cylinder appears to have a problem, pull plug on top cylinder and it dies, lower cylinder...no change. Can however hit choke switch w/ top cylinder disabled and can keep running at decent idle while only on bottom cylider. Bottom cylinder has every bit of 1/2 to 3/4" spark gap. Just replaced both power pack and stator/charge coil assembly ( $$$, Another problem I had earlier on, no spark to either cylinder). Does the lower carb need overhauled? Or do I have that spring I was refering to earlier in the wrong place? I can't find a decent photo in my manual that shows me exactly where it is supposed to go.

Howdy cowboy.

Your lower carb is not working properly. I don't know what spring you are talking about.

Did you try spraying mix into the carb? Oh, well, it doesn't matter. You have identified the carb as the trouble.

Dismantle, clean, with great attenetion to the jets and other orifices.

Good luck. :)
