I picked up a 65 hp moter and combined my lower unit with the motor i picked up. I had it out for 3 hours and it rand great but lost power in the last hour. I had a bulb poroblem that turned out being a brand new defective fitting on the tank end. I took the carbs apart and they looked real clean but the floats looked old and the needleds didn't have the clip that the new ones have. So I put my new floats and bowls in the carbs. The boat started at the dock and ran well. Then I had a hard starting problems. I noticed the floats I took out were adjusted slightly lower than even and the ones I put in were even. The motor has plenty of power when it does start but starting is tough. My question is can I simply adjust the low speed needles they are out about 3/4 turn or do need to put the other floats or adjust the new floats down a little. Do the low speed jets have any bearing on hard starting flooding issues? Turns out my throttle cable got loose on the shifter and this whole new problem I created. Not sure about float level and low speed adjustments. Sorry guys i tried to search before posting but my query for 65 hp carburetor came up blank. Thanks for the help.
