72 7.5 hp merc

I just acquired this motor. It runs well although it doesn't seem like it revs out like it should. i know it does have a gas leak but i have not had the oppurtunity to check it out yet, and figured i could get some ideas before i do. I have the motor on a 12' aluminum boat and it does'nt planeout at all. This weekend a canoe with one person in it passed me!

gas leak will need to be fixed first, pump will suck air before gas and it will not perform properly.

While repairing the gas leak, when thats repaired ck the engine for spark and repace the plugs if needed
