72' 7.5HP Crusty Wiring.

Might be part of my ongoing problems with getting this running. The more I work around the wires, that come from from the stator, the more I see them developing cracks, in the white and green wires. The top green wire had a good one, exposed copper, that I taped.

Any fixes (or hope) for this situation?

If you still have spark and the stator is good that needs to be checked. Coat the wires with liquid electrical tap the only way to truly fix is replace.

I have it apart, will test the stator and if ok, would like to replace the wires, keeping the original colors, if possible, but not buying a roll of each. Whats a good type of wires and connectors, for replacement?
