Hey everyone I'm back. With the same problem. Watch the two videos in order (the 2nd video is in next post), it's all one video but I had to stop and start again.

Took it out on lake, thought I had the problem fixed. If you all remember, I still had tape over the water intake last time and thought that was the problem. Well, I removed the tape, and also replaced the thermostat housing gasket. Well, the same thing happened. It' ran great for a couple minutes. Slowed down and it stalled. Then it wouldn't start. Took off cover and splashed water on the head.....it sizzled. Something's up???

What temp should the thermostat open up at? I'm gonna check it again, but if I remember last week when I checked it, I had to get the water about boiling before it opened up. I have a feeling that's too hot. I'm gonna check it again and actually check the water temp w/a meat thermometer. It was still not spitting much water out the exhaust. Just a misty sprinkle.

Ok, I'm gonna figure this out if it kills me.

OK, I re-checked the thermostat. I think it's ok. It opened up at about 140* or so. There's a couple numbers stamped on the bottom of thermostat, I think one's 99 and the other 143. I guess I'm gonna have to remove the lower unit again to figure this out.

I replaced the impeller, plate and whatever else comes in the kit. I can't remember exactly w/o tearing it apart and looking. It's definitely not pumping huh??? Idk what I could've screwed up, but apparently I did something.

could be a few things, grommet pushed in, pin fell out, housing shot, intake plugged , blockage somewhere, etc. time to trouble shoot the pump and related !

OK. when I dropped LU the copper water tube stayed up in motor. I didn't actually notice, but I think maybe copper water tube was not lined up in grommet on WP. Duh?! After I made sure it was lined up I pushed LU back up in place, I then let it drop down again and this time water tube stayed in WP and came out from up in motor. So, that leads me to believe that it wasn't lined up and in WP. So I've reinstalled everything and now need to get it on the water again to test it. What a pain. I wish this thing would take muffs. OK. I'll be in touch.

Now we're getting somewhere!! Put water under and ran it. WOW! I had water flying out of the thermostat housing. I'm soaked. :) Put thermostat housing back on and had big water coming out the exhaust!! I also noticed the head gasket leaking a little bit. That doesn't surprise me since I did just replace the head a couple weeks ago and DID NOT replace the head gasket. Oh well, I can order one of those easy enough and replace it. At least I solved the overheating problem. Woohoo! Thanks everyone!!
