Ok I got this boat about 2 years ago that I have been restoring the interior. I am now at the point of getting it running but you guessed it I have no spark. I had hooked jumper cables directly to the power cables a couple time to test the eletric and raise the motor and made sure the motor turned over before I had a marine battery. I have tried testing the power pack based on other threads by taking off the purple lead and it usually just stays at zero, twice it jumped to .2 amps but not very often. The power pack humms sometimes but not very often. I have great voltage at the #5 wire that goes to the coil and power pack. I really think it's the power pack but before I spend the $200 just thought I would throw this out.

Ok quick question, does this boat have the Yellow/black wire that it says to disconnect to test for spark? I can find it anywhere.

The Model is 100ESL72R. The pulse pack that's on it is an OMC 398363, which is the prestolite. So last night I did some more checking and someone had hooked the purple wire from the pulse pack to #8 instead of #9. I corrected that but nothing. There is power to the pulse pack but no power to the coil.

The purple wire comes from the ignition switch and goes to terminal 6 and then runs to the purple wire going to the pack which is 12 volts. The blue wire comes from the pack to either 8 or 9 and goes to the coil which produces around 250 volts when cranking. If no voltage from the pack it could be either the pack or the sensor bad.

Everything I show has the blue wire at #5 to the coil and the purple wire to #9. But either way there is not voltage at teh coil wire when I crank it over. I ordered a new power pack, I think mine is Toast.

IDK but I had a 72 100hp Evinrude I got used in 84 from a dealer who said it had a new pp. I only had it a year and sold it after having to have pp changed again. I may have hurt it when I tried connecting a tach to one of the terminals which I think was marked "tach" . It went intermittent after that.

Mand, you are correct with the wiring. The book I got the info out of was wrong. Needless to say it's now in the garbage. Sorry.

Ok, I replaced the pulse pack and the coil and she fired right up...YAY! So here's my next question, the power tilt won't hardly raise the motor, it goes down just fine but you have to assist it to come up. I think it might just be low on fluid but where do you fill it and what fluid is used?
