i rebuilt the lower unit and all went fine until i put the upper drain plug in. as i tightened it down to test the lu, it stripped :blue:
now what? thought about a helicoil? but im not sure

went to the local ace, and i could not find a longer screw with a small head. arrgh

is the housing toast?

Heli-coil it. But make sure you get it straight or it will leak at the gasket

just ordered a 3/8 repair kit off e*ay. thought about the timeserts, but man 70.00 is pretty steep. thanks, thought some of you folks have done the helicoil trick. for 14.00 i will give it a go.

so do i drop the lu again, drain it and pull it apart? that dam spaghetti seal... or use some grease and thread it in place? think im going to give the later a go, its only pot metal shavings anyways. i will take it slow, back and forth, clear the shavings. i am a plumber so i do some threading here and there.

thanks again. oh, and the reseal came out great :) small leak due to the stripped drain plug, but all is good.

guess i can work on the other three while im waiting for parts. i hate stalking the mailman. i boats ships pretty quick! but still hate the waiting. the local guys dont have alot of vintage parts on stock so i have to wait for them as well.
