72 Lark 50 selectric lower unit removal

I have a 1972 evinrude 50 with selectric shift and am changing the water impeller.I pulled the lower unit and don't know where to remove the wire's to the shift unit.Is there a connection there?Thanks Dale

There are 2 spots where those wires connect 1 up at the power head and another under the solenoid cover, if you can't get to the cover at this point to take it off then you can disconnect them at the power head, my advise would be to use some string or fishing line tied to the ends that go to the lower unit and then tape it up so you don't get any snags when you are pulling them back through. The wires you are looking for should be blue and green.
