72 merc 115 fast idle problem

I got a 72 merc 115 that had set awhile. I rebuilt the carbs and replaced the electronics I also removed the trigger and cleaned it. When we tried to start it,it fired right up and ran great but we have not been able to get the idle down into the proper range. Can the trigger be installed wrong.

Perhaps the belt is one tooth advanced? Check the belt and do the timing and synch routine. It's gotta be something real and adjustable causing it.<br /><br />-W
