72 Merc 9.8 fires up at full throttle but not idle.

I have a 72 Merc 9.8 HP model 110. It will fire up and run at full throttle when its in forward, but any less throttle it dies and wont fire. Im thinking it is the Low Speed Coil. Any help would be awesome. Also is there an ohm test or some way to test the coils? Thanks in advance.

Clean and rebuild your carburetor for starters.

If it runs fine at full throttle, but won't idle, look to your carb.
