I have a 72 sportwin 9.5 that has a carburetor issue. The carb is leaking fuel while it runs and seems to be running rich and overfilling. When I pump the bulb it fills the carb and will eventually leak and even spray out. After that its flooded and will not start until I drain the float bowl. So what I have been doing is lightly priming it, full choke and then it starts. Once the motor is running there is a steady leak from the carburetor as the carb float bowl fills up. Then if I shut the motor off and try to restart it, its flooded and I have to drain the float bowl (or wait forever) and repeat the steps above. The leak is coming from where one of the lead shot seals should be. I can see the lead seal on one side of the hole but not on the other, and that?s where the leak is coming from. Im assuming that hole is supposed to be sealed and not leaking and spraying fuel out. Should I replace that lead shot seal? Also, would that leak contribute to the carb flooding so easily or is it a clogged jet that is backing it up and overfilling?
