72Johnson 50hp hydro-electric/won't turn over

I am having problems getting the motor to turn over. The only way it will turn over is by grounding the solenoid. Please help!

Sounds like a switch problem. I would ohm out the wires at the switch to check for a switch or wiring problem.<br /><br />But first I would make sure the shifter "neutral saftey swich" is not stuck. Rock the shifter back and forth at the helm and see if she will turn over.

Now everytime you turn it to start it blows the fuse that goes from the solenoid to the switch. Could it be a bad switch even though it checks out alright? Or is something else going on?
