I've disassembled both cards on my v4 Johnson, soaked them in decarb, and replaced all o-rings, seals and floats using the appropriate rebuild kits.

When I soaked the fuel trays or resevoirs (the lower component of each card that holds the fuel), I didn't remove the brass fuel line connector. Should I remove this piece? Is there an o-ring or seaI? If there is an o-ring or seal, then the decarb probably ate it. I don't know if it would be easy to remove this piece or if the kits come with the necessary o-ring/seal. If someone out could lend some advice, I'd sure appreciate it.

Also, the needle with the kits did not have the plastic/rubber coated tip like the ones I removed. I've read a thread in this forum that said this was a problem. I've saved the old ones, but was is the general consensus with this? Are there usually problems with the bare metal tips?

The hose fitting is not removed.

The Bombardier kits have all stainless steel needles with the spring that clips on the arm of the float. If you use the new brass fitting, use the new needle that came along with them.

If you have to adjust the floats, try not to push down on the needle as they are easily damaged.

Don't use rags. They will clog the pores. Look at the floor of the carburetor throats at the engine end and you can see how small those openings are.

The fuel goes there from the low speed jets, so blow some cleaner through the low speed jets so that you can be sure the pores are clear, then use your air hose.
