Recent purchase, 1973 135 on a Marlin Gemini. Engine looks great, doesn't appear to have been abused, never torn down except carbs. (Sat for almost 20 years in storage I'm told.)

Carbs were supposedly cleaned and synched jsut before I bought it. I replaced the seals in the LU, and the water pump.

The engine starts ...ok. Seems to run good on muffs, but in the lake it idles horrible, like I'm not hitting on all cylinders. Seems to run ok on a mild plane, but also seems pretty low on power, and stumbles occasionally. *Compression test was between 140-150 on all cylinders. I did the seafoam thing also (exhaust looked like goo from the La Brea tar pits - probably safe to assume it hadn't been done before.)

I replaced a coil that had a cracked plastic cover thinking it was bad or would be soon if not. No difference.

New Plugs - no difference.

Suggestions on what to check next? I had a snowmobile once that behaved similar, and it was a stator issue. No idea if that might also apply for an outboard?
