To give you some information on where I am, I am putting in a full transom in that was soaked and had to replace it. I used AB-plywood, epoxy w/cabosil in-between layers with heavy roving for the transom (but not at that install yet). I cut out the back splash 'unit', but decided to re-purpose both of the "coolers" one, as a side baitwell, and the other larger one in the floor as a fish storage box, which will clear up the deck of a plastic cooler!
Q- Before I install the back 3' extended floor, I would like to use the larger cooler that I cut out as an in-floor fish box between the stringers where it is placed, while I can access it with the floor out. I plan on insulating it and would like to fabricated a lid as well. I've included a picture so you get a feel of what I'm referring to. The baitwell on the right will be incorporated into the sied and back gunwale. I plan on shortening the box on the floor about 8" as it is 4' long and it will get in the way of my bildge battery and pumps, plus just thinking of flow, I can't have the hatch too close to the leaning post mount.
I know for some of you this is in your wheel house, but personally I'm not sure of the design of the deck flange & lid I'd need to fabricate, and "water-tight-ness" it would need to be. Also, just saw a video and they mentioned a macerated pump?? That way any draining of scales, slime, and gook doesn't go into the bildge- just trying to think ahead..
