73 50 hp johnson starting switch wire

key broke off inside switch, I bought a new switch. the boat shop said it was the right one. Markings on back or the key swiches are different, i have the orignal wires please help thanks

Well Shane, let's see if the gray cells are working this morning.....<br /><br />Black leads go to one "M".<br />Black/yellow stripe lead goes to the other "M".<br />White lead to "S"<br />Purple/red stripe goes to "B"<br />Purple lead to "A".<br /><br />Believe that's about right....

ok obj here is what i got <br />on the new switch <br /><br />M<br />B<br />M<br />A-S<br />I<br />C<br />asnd my wires are <br />red with light purple or gray<br />black to ground<br />balck<br />white<br />and 2 purple that come off of the manal choke<br />again thanks for all your help

OK.....<br /><br />M - Black<br />M - Black.....don't matter which M<br />S - White....this goes to the start solenoid<br />C - Purple wires<br />B - Red W/Purple stripe.<br />A - is accessories<br />I - Can be used for gages<br /><br />Does this cover all the wires?

ok found the problem <br />i had to set back and think about what wasw going on<br />found a blown fuse up on the top of the motor. replaced it still no fire to the motor. Then it hit me , nutural swich wasnt pressed in as i was trying the swich with the throttle box taken apart.<br />Runs great thanks for all your help
