I need help finding a gauge or the dimension to set the vertical clearance on this LU. I had to machine the bearing surface to clean it up and the shims and thrust bearing were all eaten up.
Thanks

I realize this is pretty technical, but surely someone has done it before. /you really can't put the lower unit together without setting this clearance. The shims and thrust bearing had chewed themselves to pieces.
I'll buy the gage if someone has one, or rent it.
Thanks

I dont know if my gauge bar is here or not. the bars are marked with a length on them add .02 to bar markings and that will be the distaance from the bearing housing shoulder to the end of the shaft. may be easiest to take it to a BRP dealer and let them do it. takes 10 min or so. if I go out back ill look to see if its in the shop here or in wanchese. its terrible to work at different places all the time

Rodbolt,
Thansk for the help. I've tried two dealers a the first won't touch it since they didn't rebuild it and the second just sets it by feel. I'd like to do it right. I have machinist tools to work with just not a gaauge. If you could give ne that dimension I'd be eternally greatful.
