'73 50hp evinrude lark outboard water pump

I need to know how you can tell if the water pump is working on this motor i have been told the water comes out at the bottom of the motor near the prop? is this true i see water coming out when it is running and it is warm.:%

I believe that you have two relief hole on the upper back of that engne that should put out a mist or spray. If these are spitting and your head is not hot then it is probably working. It is not a bad job to change the water pump and if you don't know the last time it was done then it would probably be a good idea to do it. Ooops, sorry, welcome to iboats.

Mr. Fireman,,,the only two ports i see are on the main area going towards the prop below the engine and these appear to be exhaust relief ports.

no IT ISNT, BUT WATER IS COMING OUT AT THE FOOT ABOVE THE PROP THRU THREE SLOTS ON EACH SIDE.
