I disconnected the black yellow wire at the power pack and the motor final runs. Sounds good too have yet to water test it but I don't forsee to many issues as I have good compression all around at 120 psi. My question is is there an easy fix for this kill switch wire or how do I go about finding where the issue is. I can no longer shut the boat off with the key while that wire is disconnected.

Re: 73 Evinrude 85hp bad kill wire

easy fix is to buy a new harnes and plug it in, CDI makes them but there expensive depending on how cheap u are. Mine for my 60hp was about $95 but if one wire is coroded they all are or will be, but in my case my original was a mess so i just bought a new one. If the wires are solid you can cut back to try and find solid un corroded wire and splice a new one in and put a pin connector on it and put it back in the harness! personally for peice of mind and ease id just buy a new one, they are easy to put on just connect as you remove its original!
