Well, after a long winter of learning, I have done quite a bit of overhauling. Even got the engine to run again, but the tilt cylinders were leaking. I couldn't find the correct spanner wrenches to disassemble them so I had that done at a shop. Reassembled the tilt system, filled resivoir, and cycled a couple of times. blocked the engine up and topped off. continued this a few times (trying to work the air out). On the last attempt the motor didn't move a bit. solinoid/contacts "click" but no movement. I don't hear the hydraulic motor even trying. This is a prestolite hydrailic motor, but I am not sure if I have the correct model# (I found a YB 5001 or 1YB 5001 stamped on to it, but don't knwo) After reading all the posts I could find, I tried disconecting the contacts and running a hardwire to the battey. I tried Black/- , and then tried both Blue/+ and Green/+. I got nothing again. Fleeting thought that I broke a wire, but hadn't touched any between go/no go. I am thinking motor is burned up. Any other suggestions? And how do I ensure I have the poper prestolite # so I can start the search for a replacement. This is a 1973 Evinrude Model #135383M Thanks for any advice you can provide!

correction: the wires to the motor are black, red and green. I tried black to - battery post, and both red to + batt. and green to + batt. never the less, I still got no response from the motor, just didn't want to confuse.

Ok, so I put all the wiring back together, manually cycled the tilt and checked fluid level. All was the same, still no movement....at this point I reverted to a last resort the Navy taught me. I hit the motor with a mallet a couple of times and presto! Movement. I cycled it a couple of times and topped off the fluid. It did sieze up a couple more times, so my question would be what should I expect the problem to be?<br />Will I be replacing this motor or can I work on it?
