i got kits for this old girl a couple of months ago when i first started trying to revive her.I have a POS manual. After finding my no spark problem, i replaced all fuel lines, fuel pump kit and water pump. it fired right up and ran good on the muffs so i was hoping i would be one of those lucky ones you hear about where fresh gas and seafaom cleans things up. Wrong. After putting it in the water, it dont run. well, it runs but quite horrible. i pulled the carbs last night and the top carb looked really clean inside but the gasket or o ring behind the idle mixture screw was coming apart. the bottom carb looked like it was full of mud an o rings are gone too. it also had some nice size black chunks of unknown substance in it. I have the kits, thought i would buy one of those soaking cans today, what if any or all, of those plugs should i remove before soaking? my kits look like they have all of them to replace but if it is not need on some, then i wont mess with them.

Also, on the long brass tube that comes from the top of the carb to the bowl, it is slotted for a screwdriver but it wont budge, should i just leave it alone or get it out one way or another?

any other tricks will be put to good use.

thanks, i totally forgot about that. i had remembered the srewdriver tho. I ground one down and it fits pretty good on that long tube but it still dont want to move. I am putting so much torque on it that it feels like if i try any more, i may ring it off. I tried both cabs and the tube would not budge. carb in the vice and i got vise grips on my screwdiver for leverage. maybe after soaking it will loosen up
