OK where to start . I have strange problem for me anyway I can only get it to start i take a plug out and squirt fuel into a cylinder after that will run fine. I just replaced the gasket for the fuel filter (cause of soft primer bulb) new plugs and coils as well (rotten wires) I set the gap .030 . Service manual has been ordered . Any ideas where to look next ?

Sounds like a carb problem, not getting fuel to the cylinder.
How is the compression?
Which cylinder?

Don't know about the compression I don't have a tester I need to borrow one, either cylinder. my brother who had the motor b4 me had the carbs serviced 2 years ago so I didn't think they would be the problem . outboards are new to me so I was waiting for the service manual b4 I got to far over my head . I knew how to get covers of the carbs i would hit it with carb cleaner

Just squirting carb cleaner into the carb woun't do any good, need to pull carbs apart to clean properly.
Is the choke working properly?

It takes compression, spark and fuel to run your engine.
You need to check these things first when trouble shooting your engine.

I waiting on the compression tester, spark is good . before I squirted fuel in cylinders they were getting fuel when I pulled the plug I could see & smell the gas on the plug . it was running last summer and was winterized properly so I'm lean towards a choke issue will see after compression test
