I just did a compression and spark test. Compression is:
Top to bottom:
#1 93
#2 104
#3 104
Spark is strong at 1/2" gap on all 3.

I decarbed and still got about the same results, maybe a little lower on all evenly. I am also using an el cheapo Harbor Freight compression tester so not sure it is 100% accurate, but this gives the spread anyway. It was fairly consistent each time I did the test.

The symptoms I have is motor runs good at wot once you get there but only gets up to about 23 on a 16' vhull fishing boat. Last time I was at the lake it ran good at slow speeds but when I went to the dock and backed out it died and would not restart after cranking for 10 minutes or so. Brought it home, a coule days later it still would not start on muffs but hit it with some starter fluid and it fired right up and kept running at idol. Runs fine at idol in my tank as well but still wants to die when I put it into gear slow speed after a few minutes. It also sounds like it sucks air when I hit it to full throttle. once I get it to wot the first time by babying it up it seems to get there easier the next time and runs better at slow speed. However, it still wants to die after a short while.

I rebuilt the carbs a few weeks ago so not sure if I did something wrong. The carbs are fairly simple, no jets, has orifices so no adjustment to carbs. Before I rebuilt them it ran awesome at wot but would not run more than 5 minutes at all slow and i could not go back and forth from forward to reverse or it would die. I have a mechanic coming to take a look tomorrow AM, would really like some suggestions before he shows up. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Your compression is fine.

Did you remove the HS orifices when you did the carb rebuild?

Also, don't use starting fluid - use a spray bottle of premix instead.
