73 Mercury 650 3 Cyl Model Questions

Can anyone tell me what part this is? I think it is broken or I just can't figure out how it locks the throttle and gear shift cables in place.



Question where do I connect the pos + and Neg - cables from the battery to motor, I have an Idea but want to be sure,don't want to short anything out. Thanks

A couple more pics on the broken part. Valley Sales in Prudenville,Mi. might have it??

The ground goes to any good spot on the block.
​The pos goes to one side of the solenoid.
PICS always help.

They used that part for a lot of models for many years, I would start looking at a Mercury dealer.

I think you're broken part number is 39667 . The part is NLA I checked your location on your profile (creepy hey?) there is a dealer in NY that said they had one last updated 2013 though. Not sure if you'll need the pin as well. New around these parts and reckoning I can't list the dealers who say they have them. Call a merc dealer with that p/n and they can let you know. Also make sure they double check the info. w/serial number.

Lucked out yesterday! Went to the local marina and as I am pulling in I realized they are closed on tuesday.. Then I remember the mechanics are there and drive around back and the owner is there, so i ask him about part and he says the same thing as Merc850, and we talk about for a while when a older gentleman that helps there walks by and he asks him about it and he says " I have a 650 3 cyl powerhead on my workbench at home and I think I have that part , If I do I will call you tonite and if I dont I wont call.... Well he Called!!! and is going to drop it off today for !5 bucks!! Yes!!! Now my search is on for Battery Cables

Looks like a redneck fix with some tywraps will hold the cables in place.
