74 150 hp merc, only runs on start

If the key is on start I can get it to run, much faster than the starter is spinning so it runs on its own, but as soon as I let the key go back to "run" it shuts right off. Any ideas?<br /><br /><br />Nick

Sounds like a bad switch on the 4 post side of the switch box jumper the red and white termanal together and see if it will run
