While replacing the head gasket on my 9.9. the spark plug wires fell out of the coils. They worked before, and look to be in decent shape, but the wires don't seem to go back in securely. Can you silicone these back in where they will be secure, or is there some other fix other than replacing the coils?

if you have enough slack, cut off 1/2 inch. and screw them in. besure the center lines up with pin on coil.

Thanks, I'll try that. I should have enough extra wire to do that.

What compression should this motor have? It had a warped head, and I did the emory cloth and plate glass thing, and it took a fair bit to get it smooth accross the face of the head. I'm getting about 85 lbs compression--exactly even on both cylinders, which is good, but I thought the compression should be in the 100 lb range? Any thoughts?

That's not bad... It'll run... if they're the same, that's good... Of course higher is better, but could be a lotta work to get it any higher...
