Hey,

As you can see....... Im new to this forum. I am hoping to seek a little help. I have owned this boat/motor for just a few days now. The issue I am having is..... the motor seems to not want to stay at a good Idle speed. She runs rough and dies out. I have pretty much eliminated that it is an electrical issue. I popped off the flywheel and set the points at.020.... and gapped my plugs at .030. I checked all wiring and all seems to be good. I am running a tilly carb and when at full throttle.....nice and steady but, at an idle she is rough. This carb has NO low or high settings. I do not have the Boat in the water. Just ran with a set of muff's so far. Seriously want to get this issue resolved. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for you time and knowledge. I do understand what it means to help another. As I ran a vintage snowmobile site for the last 10 years.

Dave.

On the front top of the carb is the air screw. It should be turned out 1 and 1/8 turn out. Then adjust from there. If you get no response from that.
The carb's probably full of crap. The main jet has small holes in it and they control the idle/low speed, these holes must be clear.
Ethanol is messing up a lot of motors. It's delaminating the inside of older hoses causing clogs in the carbs and fuel filter.Check for soft hoses and junk in the filter on the motor.Check the diaphram J

Thank you for you reply Jerry. I will look for that screw. Let you know how I make out when I get back from Rushford lake on Tuesday.

Found my problem. The diaphragm on the fuel pump is shot. Picked up a new one and we are ready to rock ! I did rebuild the carb while I was at it. Cant hurt any.... ya know?
