'74 evinrude waterpump

trying to remove the lower unit on a '73 or '74 evinrude 70hp, mod#70473-M, ser.#J0009551. need to get to the waterpump, but can't figure out how to disconnect shaft to remove lower unit. i have a manual on order, but it won't be here for 2 weeks.

check under the bottom carb for the top of the shift shaft...theres a screw there that has to come out
