'74 Mark Twain transom rot

I just bought a '74 Mark Twain boat. I got it home and looked it over and found a rot around the drain plug in the transom area. I tapped all of the visibal transom area and it seems solid except for the bottom. Should I replace the entire transom? Can I get through the summer? I will get pictures today after work. I am new new to boats so this is a new adventure.

Put the motor down and stand on it. Be rough with it and look for any flex. If there isn't any I would say you can use it for the summer. Just keep an eye out for any cracking, etc. in the fiberglass.
