74 vs 65

I have a Minn Kota with 74 lb. motor but am switching to a Riptide AP65 (Riptide Autopilot is not available in 74). I rarely ever run the 74 at more than 50%, usually 15-20%. Will I experience a significant difference. Boat is an 18' center console. Also, I have been told that the 65 series motor is quieter and uses less electricity. Any opinions?

The 65 draws 38 amps at max setting, the 74 draws 45 and the 101 draws 37. So your 65 will draw 7 less amps. That may mean it's quieter as well? I was tempted to but the Riptide autopilot but went with the 101 cause I fish near some good currents. Happy with my Riptide. But the 3 batteries.............. Good Luck
