finishing up a carb rebuild on a 4 horse. i was left with 6 seemingly identical cork washers. looking at the fische here...http://www.crowleymarine.com/brp_parts/diagrams/31353.cfm

i've come to guess they go two a piece on each needle seat. (the old ones were so deteriorated I didn't recognize them as washers on disassemble) my questions then, do I just have two extras? what type of material should part #30, another washer, be? Do the collars surrounding the needles (part #16) get snugged all the way down? They were very loose on disassemble.

it's a mouthful, but i appreciate your time. i've already learned a ton about these little monsters by searching the forums for hours!

#30 should be brass or nylon. The packing gland nuts should be just snug enough to prevent the needles from moving on their own yet tight enough to prevent air infiltration. You may well ind up with extra's but don't toss them as there may come a day where the needles get loose and you can add them at that time. Best of luck. Rick.

Those washers are also called needle valve packing. They go under the brass nut that holds the needle valve. #30 is a nylon washer. On the needle valves, you put in two cork washers, then the nylon washer. Tighten the brass nut just enough that the needle turn's with some resistance.
