'75 1150 engine block material

Ok, now i need to know what a mid '70 L6 Mercury engine block is made of...is it pot-metal or cast aluminum...?

None of the motors are "pot metal" they are aluminum.

Thats what i thought just by looking at it Bob...here's my deal: i have a Brand New '78 Merc L6 1150 block...this block was dropped and the OUTER starter mount ear is broken...can this be welded..?

This hapenned all the time (starter bracket). Any good aluminum welder can repair it (TIG).
