75 hp Powerhead bearing rebuild kits?

Hey guys, I can only seem to find full rebuild kits complete with pistons etc. Does anybody know if anyone offers a bottom end only kit? (bottom end of the powerhead)

I have 135psi across the board and don’t want the added parts expense and extra machining costs (and headaches of the hike to a specialty machine shop twice)

This is a motor I want to play with but probably not keep for more than a season or two. (1977 75hp) and this is my rebuild learner motor. I want to rebuild a 1990 70 hp next if the first doesn’t have me in fits

EDIT: I FOUND BEARING REBUILD KITS FOR SALE HERE :)

so may I revise my question?

a) rebuild with bearings only
b) it’s already cracked open...do the whole thing
c) scrap it, neither worth the money or effort

Why did you tear it down if it has good compression?

By bottom end do you mean the roller bearings for the big end of the rod to the crank?

Other than that there are only the crank main bearings left on the "bottom"

Thanks, I revised my question in the post right above yours. This motor had water intrusion. It wasn’t flushed immediately so I believe the bearings are compromised.

Because it was recently running and has good compression and I believe it has a good lower unit, I don’t want to just toss it. I think I have a good flat exhaust plate from a 1977 70 hp that might work

Id like to see how it compares against my old 650 merc

The crankshaft and connecting rods would be scrap if water sat on the bearings for more than a few days !

Check for pitting on the crank, the bearings and rods if you had water intrusion. My engine was partially submerged during Harvey in Houston a few years ago. It was on the ground because I was doing the steering tube.... I got it running and it ran good but I ironically blew it out in shallow water, horn didn't go off. I found pitting on the crank, two rods out of four and a few rollers on the upper bearing. I thought it was because I left one of the heads off upon disassembly but learned here it's from water intrusion which was spot when I recalled the storm.... I did a used crank, new main center, new upper and lower, new big end rod bearings, and two used pistons and new rings for all four. Runs like a raped aped aside an Idle problem I've been chasing which I just fixed.

From what I seen when I looked up your engine there are two caged main bearings and the upper & lower. Shouldn't be too pricey. Caged big end rod bearings are available if you are interested in that type just do your homework searching. Good luck.

Thanks guys. I’ve pulled the powerhead and I guess I’ll open it up to see.

I never considered the rods. Figured I could do a “shoelace-emery polish” to clean up the crank.

I’ll post my findings
