75 merc 110 9.8 coughs than dies

starts fine after a choke, runs for a second

makes a pop or cough sound than dies..

twitches a bit when it does this

starts right back up.. but does the same thing

Sounds like the fuel system needs work.Ethanol is messing with lots of things.
First do spark/compression tests.Then the fuel lines replace and clean the carb. The fuel pump rebuild it.
The vent open?
Water in the fuel?
Check these things and post your results.J

ive replaced the fuel line to the pump or check valve, ive rebuilt the check valve, and cut new gaskets for the filter column atop the carb..

short of putting thread dope on each of the connections the best i can get is if i squeeze the bulb while its running it will stay going..

its obviously not pumping fuel... its the pre 72 merc style pump with a check valve which is a square box to the left of the carb.. ive not yet figured out how to determine if this is my issue or if theres a vacuum issue to the check valve from the case or what

ive got a 6 horse the same year thats doing the same exact thing
