I have a 75 HP Chrysler from '82. I banged up the prop a while ago and decided I should get it rebuilt/replaced. I found a local shop to rebuild for about $70, but he said that these props are getting harder to find. This has me a little concerned that if the prop ever gets damaged beyond repair that I'll not be able to get a new one. I've been looking a bit and find some out there, but they are getting pricy compared to what I bought the last one for.

I noticed that Michigan Wheel has some props that go onto a prop hub system. Seems like a great ideas to be able to make the props fit on any boat with the correct hub. Does anyone have opinions on these systems? Is there a hub that works compatible with my outboard? It doesn't have the through hub exhaust.

Re: 75hp Chrysler Prop

I just bought a rebuilt prop from a shop in michigan. They also said they had a brand new one still in the warehouse for $30 more than the re-built. They're out there, it's just finding one that takes time!

Well, for example, I acquired a brand-new Vortex prop. It is listed to fit Force engines but if you buy one, it will APPEAR to not fit. You must modify a small bit: If it came with the plastic ring at the back of the hub, this ring must be removed. They also don't tell you that the internal prop webs hit the anode so you must either remove the anode OR replace with a later, smaller one. Other than that, I am satisfied with the separate hub system

I just bought a 4 blade Comprop for testing purposes--same story, internal webs hit the anode. I elected to cut down the webs so I could use the prop on multiple engines without the fuss of removing the anodes each time I changed it.

Michigan Makes a line of open hub, thru-hub exhaust props for Force engines up to 92 0r 94--I forget exactly when the lower was changed to Mercury style. You can use them, there is absolutely no difference in performance.

Props made to fit the smaller diameter lower units for Mercury (4 inch vs. 4.5 inch) Will directly swap onto your engine

As stated above, the stock props are out there, you just need to look a bit.

So: You do have a number of options
