75HP Johnson Link and Sync

1979 75hp Johnson 'Stinger'<br /><br />Just put kit in carbs. Needing some help on the link and synch procedure. My manual is less than clear and really confusing on this topic.<br /><br />Any easy to understand directions out there for me?<br /><br />Thanks

I know what you mean about confusing, but if you follow the steps closely and in sequence you should be able to do it. It takes time, so patience is the key.

One of the main things to understand is that the idle must be adjusted before adjusting the cam follower. Idle is adjusted by changing the spark advance while the throttle plates on the carbs are all fully closed. What I do is loosen the cam follower, adjust idle, and then adjust the cam follower so the throttle plates just begin to open when the spark advance arm moves with the throttle.
