Hi EE's<br /> Good question. I have taken apart a few fifty's model 25hp motors and found the thrust washer on the crank caused the rattle. There was nothing economicaly fiesable I could think of to remedy the problem. I just put them back together and let em rattle. I have had quite a few other rattlers also. Some I've torn down and inspected and could not determime the cause of the rattle. I have two motors that I run regularly, a three cyl. 55hp. and a 10hp. They both rattle and have for years. They both run great. Maybe someone will clue us in.
